She brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn - Luke 2:7.
Jesus was laid in a manger
when He was born as there was no room in the inn. Foxes have holes, and birds
of the air have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head - Luke
9:58. Manger was the sign told for the
Shepherds by the angel. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in
swaddling cloths, lying in a manger - Luke 2:12. And they came with haste and
found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger - Luke 2:16.
God chose a manger which is a
feeding trough for animals to be born. Jesus who is the bread of life was lying
in a manger to feed us the spiritual food. I am the bread of life - John 6:35. I
am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will
live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the
world - John 6:51. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to
serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many - Mark 10:45.
God came to the world with humility and simplicity to show us how much He loves us. The Majestic God who created everything by His word was laid in a manger. Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death - even death on a cross! - Philippians 2:6-8. Let us learn the humility from God. Learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart- Mathew 11:29.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank You for
coming to the world as human in humility to save us. Help us to be always humble in heart.
In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
