Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people - Luke 2:10.
Shepherds received the announcement
about the birth of Christ
The
shepherds were chosen by God to hear the glorious news about the birth of Christ.
The angel of the Lord first announced the shepherds about the birth of Christ. And behold,
an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around
them, and they were greatly afraid - Luke 2:9. The angel told them about the birth of Christ in Bethlehem. For there is born to you this day in the city of
David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord - Luke 2:11.
Shepherds hurried to see Jesus
As soon as the shepherds heard about the
birth of Christ, they went to see Him immediately. When the angels had left them
and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem
and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So
they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the
manger - Luke 2:15,16.
Shepherds spread the good news
The shepherds went and shared about what they had heard and seen with others. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them - Luke 2:17,18. They returned praising and glorifying God. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them - Luke 2:20. Let us also spread the gospel to all nations and glorify God. Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation - Mark 16:15.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us go into all
the world and spread the good news. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
