Continue Earnestly In Prayer

Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving - Colossians 4:2.

God’s people prayed earnestly

An earnest prayer for Peter was made to God by the church when he was in prison.  So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him - Acts 12:5. They continued earnestly in prayer. They ought always to pray and not lose heart - Luke 18:1. Pray without ceasing - 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

God displayed His power

The chains fell off from Peter as God displayed His power. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, ‘Get up quickly.’  And the chains fell off his hands” - Acts 12:7. God’s power was continued to be on display and  they easily passed two other guards. The thick iron gate also amazingly opened on its own. When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them of its own accord, and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel left him - Acts 12:10.

God's people amazed

God's people who gathered and prayed for Peter's deliverance were amazed when they saw Peter. But Peter continued knocking, and when they opened, they saw him and were amazed - Acts 12:16. God will display His power in our life too when we continue to pray earnestly and trust Him. The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials - 2 Peter 2:9. Your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power - 1 Corinthians 2:5.  Some trust in chariots, others in horses, but we trust the Lord our God - Psalm 20:7. Continue earnestly in prayer - Colossians 4:2.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us continue earnestly in prayer for Your power to be displayed in our life. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
