The Lord is compassionate and
gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love - Psalm 103:8.
Our
God is full of compassion. He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous
- Psalm 112:4. He is the father of compassion. As a father has compassion on
his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him - Psalm 103:13. His
compassions never fail in our life. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not
consumed, Because His compassions fail not - Lamentations 3:22. Jesus was moved
with compassion when He saw the people who were lost. But when He saw the
multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and
scattered, like sheep having no shepherd - Mathew 9:36. He fed 5000 people with 5 loaves and 2 fish as His heart was full of compassion.
Jesus was moved with compassion when He saw
the sick people. And when Jesus went out, He saw a great multitude; and He was
moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick - Matthew 14:14. It was
compassion that moved Jesus to open the eyes of blind and cleanse the lepers. They
said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” So Jesus had compassion and
touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they
followed Him - Matthew 20: 33,34. Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out
His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” As soon
as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed - Mark 1:40,42.
He also raised the people from dead by compassion.
Jesus had set an example for us by showing how
we should be moved with compassion while seeing the lost souls and the people who
are in need. Let our heart move with compassion to the people around us. Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another;
love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous - 1 Peter 3:8. As the chosen
ones of God, let us always cloth ourselves with compassion. Therefore, as God’s chosen
people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness,
humility, gentleness and patience - Colossians 3:12.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are the Compassionate God. Let us also move
with compassion towards others just like You. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
