Blessed are the
meek, For they shall inherit the earth - Mathew 5:5.
Meekness is a fruit of the spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness,
goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law - Galatians
5:22,23. When we live a life of
meekness, God will teach us and reveal us His ways. As Moses was the meekest
man on earth, God showed His ways to him. Now the man Moses was very humble,
more than all men who were on the face of the earth - Numbers - 12:3. He made
known his ways to Moses - Psalm 103:7. Jesus described Himself as meek and
lowly in heart. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and
lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls - Mathew 11:29.
Jesus
humbled Himself and became obedient to God to the death of the cross. And being
found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the
point of death, even the death of the cross - Philippians 2:8. As Jesus humbled
Himself, God exalted Him highly and gave Him the name above every other name. Therefore
God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every
name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and
of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father - Philippians
2:9,10. Let us learn meekness from Christ who sacrificed His life for us.
God
will lift us up to inherit the earth and its goodness when we are humble. Humble
yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up - James 4:10. He who
humbles himself will be exalted - Mathew 23:12. God gives His grace to the
humble people. God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble - James 4:6.
Let us grow in meekness by gaining control over anger. The humble also shall
increase their joy in the Lord - Isaiah 29:19. Those who are meek will inherit
the land and enjoy abundant peace and prosperity. But the meek will inherit the
land and enjoy peace and prosperity - Psalm 37:11.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to grow in meekness. In Jesus
name we pray. Amen.
