After resurrection when Jesus
appeared to his disciples, Thomas was not there. The other disciples told him
that they saw the Lord. But Thomas told them that unless he sees the nail marks
in Jesus’ hands and put his hands where His nails were, he will not believe. Though
Thomas had witnessed that Jesus raised Lazarus and the 12-year-old daughter of
Jairus, he could not believe that Jesus was resurrected.
A week later when Thomas
was with other disciples in the house, Jesus came inside the locked room and
said, ‘Peace be with you!”. Then He said Thomas to put his fingers and look at
his hands. He also told him to stop doubting and believe. Then he said to
Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it
into my side. Stop doubting and believe” - John 20:27.
God who knows all the hearts gave
an opportunity for Thomas to believe Him. Thomas realized his mistake of
unbelief and offered his life to serve God. Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have
seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have
believed” - John 20:29. Let us also stop doubting God and believe Him at all
times. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who
doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind” - James 1:6.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to stop
doubting but believe You in everything. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
