Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly - Matthew 1:19.
Joseph was told by an angel not
to be afraid of taking Mary as his wife when he thought of putting her away
secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord
appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to
take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy
Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for
He will save His people from their sins.”
Matthew 1:18-21.
Joseph took Mary as his wife as commanded by
the Angel and he did not think about what others will talk about him He threw
away his fear and carried out the will of the Lord for his life by faith and
obeyed the Lord. Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the
Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had
brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus. Matthew 1:24.
Joseph fled to Egypt and stayed there as
instructed by the Angel. When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother
by night and departed for Egypt, and was there until the death of Herod, that
it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
“Out of Egypt I called My Son.”- Matthew 2:14, 15. He was very careful to obey
each and every command for God’s salvation plan about Jesus to be fulfilled. But you,
Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet
out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings
forth are from of old, From everlasting - Micah 5:2.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to obey Your
commands and follow Your ways. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
