For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost - Luke 19:10.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He went to the house of Zacchaeus to bring him to repentance. Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham” - Luke 19:8,9.
Jesus went to Samaria to save the Samaritan woman. Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life - John 4:13,14. I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance - Luke 15:7.
Let us have the commitment and mission that Jesus had to reach and save the lost. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit - Matthew 28:19. Not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance - 2 Peter 3:9. I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick - Ezekiel 34:16.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You came to the world to seek and save the lost. Help us seek and save the lost as Your will is that all should come to repentance. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
