Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things - Psalm 119:37.
Turn away eyes from looking at worthless things
We fill ourselves with darkness, when our eyes look at worthless things. The eye is the lamp of the body as what we allow into our eyes actually fills our heart. Jesus tells us about the eye, “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness” Matthew 6:22-23. As our heart is who we are, we should be very careful to turn away our eyes from looking at worthless things.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
We will never be ashamed but radiant when our eyes look to the Lord. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed - Psalm 34:5. Our help will come from the Lord as our eyes look to the Lord. I will lift up my eyes to the hills - From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth - Psalm 121:1,2. May we seek the help of God to set our eyes on what is holy and worthy and to set our eyes on things unseen.
Let our eyes be ever toward the Lord instead of looking at worthless things. My eyes are ever toward the Lord - Psalm 25:15. My eyes are fixed on You, Sovereign Lord; in You I take refuge - Psalm 141:8. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith - Hebrews 12:1, 2. Look unto Me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other - Isaiah 45:22.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us turn away our eyes from looking at worthless things. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
