So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge upon their enemies - Joshua 10:13.
Joshua marched from Gilgal with the
Israelite army to attack the five kings. He spoke to the Lord to make the sun stand
still to fight against the enemies. Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day
when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he
said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the
Valley of Aijalon” - Joshua 10:12. Till the people had revenge upon their
enemies, the sun stood still and the moon stopped. The sun stood still in the
midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day - Joshua 10:13.
God prolonged the daylight for
Israelites to finish the battle victoriously. He is in control of His creation.
When He spoke, the universe came into existence and He is the all-powerful God.
Nothing is too hard for Him. Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is
there anything too hard for Me? - Jeremiah 32:27. He calms the storm, So that
its waves are still - Psalm 107:29. For
He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast - Psalm 33:9.
The Lord heeded the voice of Joshua by making the sun to stand still and fought for Israel. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel - Joshua 10:14. The Lord heeded the voice of Joshua as he obeyed God in everything and walked in His commandments. Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear - Isaiah 59:1. Let us obey God and keep His commandments. God will answer us and show us great and mighty things which we never know when we call upon Him. Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know - Jeremiah 33:3.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are the miracle working God. With You all things are possible. In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen.
