Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert - Isaiah 43:18,19.
Paul
teaches us about forgetting what is behind us and pressing toward the future
goal. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things
which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of
God in Christ Jesus - Philippians 3:13,14. We can forget the past and go
forward with the help of God who can set us free. Now the Lord is the Spirit;
and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty - 2 Corinthians 3:17.
Joseph suffered a lot in his young
age because of his brothers. But he chose to forget the past and forgave them. Joseph
called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: “For God has made me forget all my
toil and all my father’s house” - Genesis 41:51. Dwelling in the past failures,
hurts and pains will keep us chained to the past instead of focusing on God’s
plan for us. God is our
healer who can heal all our deep pains. He heals the brokenhearted, and He
binds up their wounds - Psalm 147:3.
Let us forget the past with the help of God and begin a new life. I am making everything new - Revelation 21:5. God makes everything new in our life. He will restore us everything which we have lost in the past. I will restore double to you - Zechariah 9:12. Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs - Isaiah 61:7.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to forget
the past and start a new life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
