And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided” - Genesis 22:14.
Abraham obeyed God and took Isaac to the land of Moriah as told by God to sacrifice him as a burnt offering. When Isaac asked him about the lamb for burnt offering, he answered him with faith that God will provide the lamb. Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together - Genesis 22:8. He also told his servants with faith that both himself and his son will worship and come back to them. He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.” - Genesis 22:5.
Abraham’s obedience and faith led to God’s provision. By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,” concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense - Hebrews 11:17-19. Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son - Genesis 22:13.
Abraham named the place where he attempted to sacrifice Isaac as Jehovah-Jireh, The-LORD-will-provide. God is our provider who will provide us with everything as we follow Him with obedience and faith. To obey is better than sacrifice - 1 Samuel 15:22. Without faith it is impossible to please God - Hebrews 15:12. He will provide all our needs in a miraculous way like how He provided Abraham the lamb for the burnt offering. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus - Philippians 4:19. Let us thank God our provider, Jehovah- Jireh!!
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are Jehovah Jireh, our provider. We thank You for providing all our needs. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
