Jehovah Shalom: The Lord Is Peace

  So Gideon built an altar there to the Lord, and called it The Lord Is Peace. Judges 6:24.

                   The Israelites were ruled by the Midianites and they lived in fear and danger as their crops, cattle and riches were destroyed by them. During that time, God spoke with Gideon that he will save the Israelites from the hand of Midianites. When Gideon wondered how can he save, the angel called him as mighty warrior and told him to go in the strength that he have. The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” - Judges 6:14. 

               Gideon built an altar to God there and called it “The Lord Is Peace” (Jehovah-Shalom). Then the Lord said to him, “Peace be with you; do not fear, you shall not die.” So Gideon built an altar there to the Lord, and called it The-Lord-Is-Peace - Judges 6:23,24. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid - John 14:27. 

             No matter what is happening in our life, let us not be afraid or worried about anything as the Lord, Jehovah Shalom is with us. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus - Philippians 4:6,7. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful - Colossians 3:15.

                                                      

 

PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are Jehovah Shalom, the Lord Is Peace. You are our Peace. We thank you for filling us with Your great Peace. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
