Follow Me

Follow me and I will make you fishers of men - Matthew 4:19.

Following Jesus means obeying Him and leaving behind everything we have planned for us to follow Him. Peter, Andrew, James, John, Matthew and Saul left their jobs, nets, families, priorities, plans and appointments to follow Jesus. Jesus told His disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me" - Matthew 16:24.

Peter, Andrew, James and John immediately followed Him

And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him. Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him - Matthew 4:18-22.

Matthew got up from his tax collector’s office and followed Jesus

As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and He said to him, “Follow Me!” So he got up and followed Him. (Matthew 9:9).

Saul immediately preached Christ

Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do - Acts 9:6. Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God - Acts 9:20.

All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age - Matthew 28:18-20.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us deny ourselves, obey and follow You and become the fishers of men. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
