Power of The Tongue

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit - Proverbs 18:21.

Speak kindly and pleasantly

When you talk, you should always be kind and pleasant so you will be able to answer everyone in the way you should - Colossians 4:6. Find opportunities to speak kind and tenderhearted words - Ephesians 4:32.

Speak graciously

Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones - Proverbs 16:24. Let us speak only the words that build others and gives grace to others who hear - Ephesians 4:29. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one - Colossians 4:6. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers -  Ephesians 4:29.

Speak wisely

There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health - Proverbs 12:18. The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious - Ecclesiastes 10:12.

Speak slowly

Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires - James 1:19, 20.

Set a guard over mouth to keep soul from trouble as every idle word we speak are accountable to God

Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips - Psalm 141:3. But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction - Proverbs 13:3. Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles - Proverbs 21:23. But I say to you that every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgement - Mathew 12:36.

Hide God's Word in heart and speak the praise of the Lord

For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks - Mathew 12: 34. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you - Psalm 119:11. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord - Psalm 145:21.

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer - Psalm 19:14.

Prayer: Dear Lord, Set a guard over our mouth and keep watch over the door of our lips. Help us to always speak kindly, pleasantly, graciously, wisely and slowly. Let us hide Your Word in our heart and speak Your praises. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
