Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked - John 5:8,9.
Jesus
encountered a man near the pool of Bethesda who was paralytic for 38 years. The
name Bethesda means house of mercy. Now a certain man was there who had an
infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he
already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to
be made well?” - John 5:5,6.
When Jesus asked him whether he wants to be
healed, he told that there was no one to help him instead of saying that he wants
to be healed. The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the
pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down
before me” - John 5:7. Jesus told him to rise up his bed and walk and the man
was healed immediately.
Jesus commands him to stop sinning. Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you” - John 5:14. Sin is a hindrance for healing. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness - 1 John 1:9. Let us confess all our sins and be healed. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed - James 5:16.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are our healer.
Forgive all our sins and heal us Lord. In Jesus; name we pray. Amen.
