Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things - Philippians 4:8.
Whatever is true
As our mouth speaks out of the fullness of
heart, we should think about things that are true. keep your tongue from evil and
your lips from telling lies – Psalm 34:13.
Whatever is noble
We need to think honorably towards all
people. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility
value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of
you to the interests of the others - Philippians 2:3,4.
Whatever is right
Our thoughts need to feed on things that are
righteous. The memory of the righteous is blessed - Proverbs 10:7.
Whatever is pure
Let us allow only pure thoughts into
our minds. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God - Matthew 5:8.
Whatever is lovely
Let our thoughts be always lovely. A
cheerful heart is good medicine - Proverbs 17:22.
Whatever is admirable
Let our thoughts admire the beauty of God’s creation,
our relationships and the privileges given by God. As to these things which you
now admire, the time is coming when there will not be one stone left here upon
another which will not be pulled down - Luke 21:6.
Whatever is excellent
Let us allow only excellent thoughts that
are of good quality into our mind. As someone thinks within himself, so he is -
Proverbs 23:7.
Whatever is praiseworthy
Let us thank and praise God for all the blessings He had showered upon us. Instead of grumbling, may we fill our thoughts that are praiseworthy. Let us be grateful to the people around us. I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds - Psalm 9:1.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to think about things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
