God is our deliverer. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer - 2 Samuel 22:2. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold - Psalm 18:2. Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose - Jeremiah 15:11. From the Lord comes deliverance - Psalm 3:8.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Jonah's Prayer

I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, And He answered me - Jonah 2:2.

Jonah called God

Jonah cried out to the Lord from the belly of fish. Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish’s belly - Jonah 2:1. When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; And my prayer went up to You, Into Your holy temple - Jonah 2:7. I have called upon You, for You will answer me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech. Wondrously show Your lovingkindness - Psalm 17:6,7. In my distress I cried to the Lord, And He heard me - Psalm 120:1.

Jonah's prayer of thanksgiving

Jonah offered praises to God and believed that salvation comes from the Lord. But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord’ - Jonah 2:9. Offer to God thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High. Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me - Psalm 50:14,15. in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you - 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

God's answer to Jonah's Prayer

Ebenezer

Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us” - I Samuel 7:12.

Samuel set up a stone between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, as a way of expressing his gratitude for God’s help in directing Israel thus far. Ebenezer means “stone of help.” Thus far the Lord had helped us in so many ways. Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand - Isaiah 41:10. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble - Psalm 46:1.  The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me? - Hebrews 13:6.

None had helped us except our Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless - Psalm 60:11. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth - Psalm 124:8. I will lift up my eyes to the hills- From whence comes my help?  My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth - Psalm 121:1,2.

Like Samuel, let us thank God who had helped us thus far. Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, And all the remnant of the house of Israel, Who have been upheld by Me from birth, Who have been carried from the womb: Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you - Isaiah 46:3-4. You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. - Psalm 115:11. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God - Psalm 146:5.

Thank You Lord For Your Promises That Sustained Us

Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live - Psalm 119:116.

God’s promises sustain us, strengthen us, drive out our fear and despair, and help us to overcome every difficult situation. For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh - Proverbs 4:22. My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word - Psalm 119:28. He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions - Psalm 107:20.  The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul - Psalm 19:7a. The word of God will never fail - Luke 1:37.

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid - John 14:27.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand - Isaiah 41:10.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light - Matthew 11:28-30.

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold - Psalm 18:2.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble - Psalm 46:1.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds - Psalm 147:3.

He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength - Isaiah 40:29.

The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk on my high places - Habakkuk 3:19.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “he is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”  Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.  He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart - Psalm 91:1-4.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord - Romans 8:37-39

PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank You for Your precious promises that sustained and strengthened us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Return To Give Thanks To God

One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him and he was a Samaritan - Luke 17:15-16.

Ten men with leprosy met Jesus and lifted up voice to have mercy on them. Jesus told them to go and show themselves to the priests. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off.  And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed - Luke 17:12-14. They were healed as they went and showed themselves to the priests.

Only one leper out of ten returned to give thanks for what God had done for him.   One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him and he was a Samaritan. So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well” - Luke 17:15-19.

Let us return to God to thank Him for all He had done in our life. I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds - Psalm 9:1. I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever - Psalm 86:12. I will praise the name of God with a song, And will magnify Him with thanksgiving - Psalm 69:30.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us return to You with a grateful heart to give You thanks for all You have done for us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
