Jonah's Prayer

I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, And He answered me - Jonah 2:2.

Jonah called God

Jonah cried out to the Lord from the belly of fish. Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish’s belly - Jonah 2:1. When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; And my prayer went up to You, Into Your holy temple - Jonah 2:7. I have called upon You, for You will answer me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech. Wondrously show Your lovingkindness - Psalm 17:6,7. In my distress I cried to the Lord, And He heard me - Psalm 120:1.

Jonah's prayer of thanksgiving

Jonah offered praises to God and believed that salvation comes from the Lord. But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord’ - Jonah 2:9. Offer to God thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High. Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me - Psalm 50:14,15. in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you - 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

God's answer to Jonah's Prayer

God answered the prayer of Jonah and delivered him. The Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land - Jonah 2:10. God hears us and delivers us as we call upon Him in distress and praise Him as praises brings deliverance. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry came before Him, even to His ears - Psalm 18:6. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress - Psalm 107:6.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us offer You the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call upon You for deliverance. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
