Offer to God thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High. Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me - Psalm 50:14,15.
Jonah remembered the Lord when he
was in the belly of fish. When we call upon God in the day of trouble, He will
deliver us. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He
heard my voice from His temple, and my cry came before Him, even to His ears -
Psalm 18:6. The will of God for us is to give thanks in all circumstances. in
everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you - 1
Thessalonians 5:18.
Instead of complaining about his situation,
Jonah turned his attention towards God through prayer and thanksgiving. When my
soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; And my prayer went up to You, Into
Your holy temple. Those who regard worthless idols Forsake their own Mercy. But
I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have
vowed. Salvation is of the Lord. So the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited
Jonah onto dry land - Jonah 2:7-10.
Jonah was delivered by God as he entered His presence and offered up thanks in the midst of his troubles. He believed that his salvation is of the Lord. God will hear us and deliver us when we call upon Him and offer thanksgiving. I have called upon You, for You will answer me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech. Wondrously show Your lovingkindness - Psalm 17:6,7.
