Father, ‘Into Your Hands I Commit My Spirit.’

 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘Into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last - Luke 23:46.

                The seventh and the last word that Jesus spoke on the cross was “Father, Into Your hands I commit My spirit." When Jesus spoke this Word, darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, the sun stopped shining and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two - Luke 23:44, 45. 

               Jesus committed His spirit into the hands of Father before His death on the cross. Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth - Psalm 31:5. The centurion who saw what had happened, praised God and testified that Surely this was a righteous man. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last. The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.” - Luke 23:46, 47. 

              Let us thank God who laid down His life on the cross for us. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep - John 10:15. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep - John 10:11. I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father - John 16:28.
