Gethsemane

He knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done - Luke 22:41.

Jesus went to the garden of Gethsemane with His disciples Peter, James, and John before the night of His crucifixion to pray. Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray” - Mark 14:32. He prayed and submitted to the will of Father to remove the cup from Him if it is His will. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me - John 6:38.

Jesus prayed more earnestly in the garden of Gethsemane in agony and an angel appeared to Him from heaven and strengthened Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground - Luke 22:44. Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him - Luke 22:43. Who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear - Hebrews 5:7.

After He rose up from prayer, He saw His disciples sleeping and told them to rise and pray that they may not enter into temptation. When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow. Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation - Luke 22:45. Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak - Mathew 26:41.

Like Jesus, let us also pray and submit to God for His will to be done in our life. Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us - 1 John 5:14. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus - Philippians 4:6-7.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us pray and submit everything to You for Your will to be done in our life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
