Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” - Mark 7:34.
A man who was deaf and unable to speak was brought to Jesus to be healed. Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him - Mark 7:32.
Ephphatha - Be opened
Jesus sighed and said "Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened." Immediately his ears were opened, and his tongue was released. The way to life was opened to him by God. Now, he could hear the laughter, the conversations, and he spoke plainly. And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears, and He spat and touched his tongue. Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly - Mark 4:34, 35.
Proclaimed & astonished beyond measure
People proclaimed it and astonished beyond measure saying, “He has done all things well". Then He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed it. And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak - Mark4:36,37.
May God open a way for us and let our ears be opened to hear the word of God and our mouth be opened to proclaim the gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit. See, I have set before you an open door and no one can shut it - Revelation 3:8. The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed - Luke 4:18.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank You for doing all things well beyond measure in our life. Let our ears be opened to hear Your Word and our lips be opened to proclaim the gospel. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
