As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God - Psalm 42:1,2.
David thirsted for God like the
deer that longs for streams of water. When we thirst for God, He will pour out His spirit on us. For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring - Isaiah 44:3. Let us be refreshed by the
living water that comes from the Lord. Taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed
is the man who trusts in Him - Psalm 34:8.
Peter
compares us to new born babies to have a desire for the milk of the word. Therefore,
laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as
newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if
indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious - 1 Peter 2:1-3. Let us hunger
more for the word of God. I long for Your salvation, O Lord, And Your law is my
delight - Psalm 119:174.
When we hunger and long for God, He will
satisfy us and fill us with His goodness. For
He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness - Psalm 107:9.
Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it - Psalm 81:10. He will fill us by His Holy Spirit and use us mightily for His glory.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be
filled - Mathew 5:6.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Increase our
hunger and thirst for You to be satisfied and filled with Your goodness. In
Jesus name we pray. Amen.
