My little children, let us not love
in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are
of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him - 1 John 3:18,19.
We should love each other not
only with words or speech but with actions and truth. We do not have love of
God if we are not helping people in need. By this we know love, because He laid
down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up
his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? – 1 John 3:16,17.
Let us address the needs of other people
with love in action. What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone
claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without
clothes and daily food. If one of you
says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about
their physical needs, what good is it? In
the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead -
James 2:14-17.
Let us
follow the example of Christ and walk in love with others. And walk in love, as
Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice
to God for a sweet-smelling aroma - Ephesians 5:2. Let each of you look out not
only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others - Philippians 2:4.
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works -
Hebrews 10:24.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to love
others not only in words but also in action. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
