When he had finished speaking, he
said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a
catch" - Luke 5:4.
Simon offered his boat willingly for Jesus
to teach the word of God to the people. After teaching the people, Jesus said Simon
to launch out into the deep and let down his nets for a catch. But Simon
answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing;
nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net” - Luke 5:5. Even though Simon
was an experienced fisherman, he obeyed God and followed His instructions with
an act of faith.
They caught a great number of fish when they let
down the net into deep water as told by Jesus. And when they had done this,
they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they
signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they
came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink - Luke 5:6. The boat
that was given by Simon to Jesus for preaching was filled with fish. Give, and
it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and
running over, will be given to you - Luke 6:38.
When Jesus called
Simon to catch men, he left everything and followed Jesus. And Jesus said to
Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” So when they had
brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him - Luke 5:10,11. When
we obey God and follow His instructions, we will never be disappointed. He will
turn all our failures into blessings. Let us always trust, obey and follow God.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to trust You
and obey Your voice at all situations. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
