Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined - Titus 1:8.
Discipline transforms us. Whoever
loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid - Proverbs
12:1. For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs
of discipline are the way of life - Proverbs 6:23. We need to discipline our
body to lead a healthy life. But I discipline my body and bring it into
subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become
disqualified -1 Corinthians 9:27.
God disciplines us for a
purpose. My son do not despise the Lord's discipline - Proverbs 3:11.Though discipline is painful, later on it produces a harvest of
righteousness and peace. God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may
share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.
Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those
who have been trained by it - Hebrews 12:10,11. Let us learn to be disciplined by God for our good in all areas of our life.
Self-discipline gives us the power to display the love and power of God to others. Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord, the one you teach from your law - Psalm 94:12. He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly - Proverbs 13:24. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live - Hebrews 12:9.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, We submit ourselves to You. Transform us and help us to lead a
disciplined life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
