Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven - Mathew 5:16.
Naaman who was the commander of the army of
the king of Syria, the highest army officer in the land was a leper. A little
girl was brought from Israel as captive and she became the servant for Naaman’s
wife. She shared her faith boldly with her master’s wife and suggested her
master to go to Elisha to be healed. She
said to her mistress, “Would that my lord were with the prophet who is in
Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy” - 2 Kings 5:3. She cared about her
master being a missionary in the place where she was brought as a slave.
Elisha instructed Naaman to go and
wash in the river Jordan for his flesh to be restored. Naaman humbled himself
and obeyed to Elisha’s instructions. God’s healing came over him and he was
healed of leprosy. So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the
Jordan, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh was restored
like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean - 2 Kings 5:14. The little
girl’s faith resulted in the salvation of Naaman. Now I know that there is no
God in all the world except in Israel - 2 Kings 5:15.
We
are the light of the world. Let us be a light to the people around us. When we share the gospel with others like the little girl, God will take care of the rest. I planted, Apollos watered,
but God gave the increase - 1 Corinthians 3:6. Let us be a missionary in the place where we are and be a blessing for others. Always be prepared to give an
answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have -
1 Peter 3:15.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us be a
shining light in the place where You have kept us. In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen.
