He must increase, but I must decrease - John 3:30.
John the Baptist was a man of humility. He was
a lamp that burned and gave light (John 5:35). He said that God must increase in
his life and he must decrease. He preached boldly about God’s kingdom and
repentance. For God to use us mightily, we must decrease. Be clothed with
humility, for therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He
may exalt you in due time - 1 Peter 5:5,6.
Let us learn the humility from our God. Take my
yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you
will find rest for your souls - Mathew 4:14. Let our attitude be same as the
Christ. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became
obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross - Philippians 2:5-8.
Let us allow God to increase in our life by seeking God and His kingdom first. We cannot build the kingdom of God unless we decrease. May we decrease and God increase so that others could see Christ in us. Let us surrender our will to God and follow Him. If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me - Matthew 16:24.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, May we decrease
and You increase in our life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
