Peter's Walk on Water

And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus - Matthew 14:29.

The disciples saw Jesus walking on the sea when their boat was tossed by waves and wind in the middle of the sea. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid” - Matthew 14:27. While all the other disciples were afraid, Peter told Jesus that he wants to come to Him on the water. And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come” - Matthew 14: 28,29. Peter stepped out of the boat and started walking on water.

As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he was walking on the water. But when he took his eyes off of Jesus and saw the wind, he began to sink. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” - Matthew 14:30. Instead of focusing on our problems, let our look to God. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame - Psalm 34:5.

Jesus stretched out His hand immediately and caught Peter when he began to sink in the water. And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”. And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased - Matthew 14:31,32. Let us look to God with faith. God’s righteous right hand will uphold us and rescue us in the midst of all storms. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand - Isaiah 41:10.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let our eyes always look to You and not on our problems. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
