Above all else, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it - Proverbs 4:23.
Our mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart. For out of the abundance of the heart, mouth speaks - Mathew 12:34. But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies - Matthew 15:18,19. The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? - Jeremiah 17:9. As the things that proceed out of our mouth come from the heart, we need to guard our heart by hiding the Word of God. Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You - Psalm 119:11.
Our heart will be where our treasure is and so let us lay our treasures in heaven. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also - Matthew 6:19-21. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil - Luke 6:45.
May God’s peace guard our heart as we submit all our requests with thanksgiving to God by not being anxious about anything. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus - Philippians 4:6-7. Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me - Psalm 51:10.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to guard our heart by hiding Your Word in our heart as everything we do flows from it. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
