Then, the same day at evening, being
the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled,
for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them,
“Peace be with you” - John 20:19.
Jesus declared to His disciples
“Peace be with you” when He first met the disciples on the evening of the first
day of the week, the day in which He was resurrected. The disciples who were in fear in their locked room were glad
when they saw the risen Lord. So Jesus said to
them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you” - John 20:21.
The resurrection of Christ brought peace to us.
Jesus before His crucifixion also
encouraged His disciples to be in peace. These things I have spoken to you,
that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be
of good cheer, I have overcome the world - John 16:33. Peace I leave with you,
My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your
heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid - John 14:27.
The peace of God turns all our fears into
joy. As long as we trust and stay with God, the perfect peace of God will always stay
with us. You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You because
He trusts in You - Isaiah 26:3. Let the peace of God that surpasses all our human
understanding keep our hearts and minds through Jesus Christ our Lord.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are the God of
peace. We thank You for Your peace that calm all our fears. In Jesus name we
pray. Amen.
