"Truly, I say to you, today you
will be with me in Paradise." - Luke 23:43.
The second Word of Jesus from
the cross is "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in
Paradise." Jesus was crucified between two robbers. They crucified two
robbers with Him, one on his right and one on his left - Mathew 27:38. One of the thieves recognized
that Jesus was the Son of God. The fear of God is the first step toward
repentance.
Then one of the criminals
who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself
and us.” But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear
God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due
reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when
You come into Your kingdom.”- Luke 23:39-42.
Jesus promised him paradise
that very day. “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke
23:43). Our God is just and faithful to forgive our sins when we confess it. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to
Me I will by no means cast out - John 6:37. We will have an eternal life when
we believe God. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” -
Romans 10:!3.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, We thank You for
giving us the assurance of eternal life. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
