Watch and pray, lest you enter into
temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak - Matthew 26:41.
Jesus prayed in the
garden of Gethsemane and He wanted His disciples to join with Him in prayer. As
His disciples felt asleep without praying, He told them to watch and pray to
avoid temptation. To stand strong in the midst of trials and temptations, we
should always be spiritually alert and pray. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me and I will listen to you - Jeremiah 29:12. When we pray, God brings changes to our situations.
God is calling us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us. Casting all your care upon Him, for
He cares for you - 1 Peter 5:7. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in
everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you -1 Thessalonians
5:16. As devil is a roaring lion, we need to be always attentive and watchful
in prayer. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about
like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour - 1 Peter 5:8.
Prayer gives us the
strength and power to meet the challenges of life in the last days. 1 Peter 4:7
says, “The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear-minded and
self-controlled so that you can pray.” Let us take up the whole armor of God to
stand strong in evil days. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you
may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand -
Ephesians 6:13.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to be always
watchful in prayer. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
