But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand – Isaiah 64:8.
God is our potter and we are the clay. We are the work of His hands. God had lifted us up out of the miry clay. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps - Psalm 40:2. Paul referred our bodies as jars of clay. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us - 2 Corinthians 4:7.
God is our perfect potter who reshapes us into another beautiful, perfect and precious vessel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel! - Jeremiah 18:4-6. God will mold us and use us for His glory.
Let us surrender ourselves into the hands of the Lord like clay into the hands of a potter. He will shape us into a beautiful vessel of honor. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work - 2 Timothy 2:21. He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ - Philippians 5:6. As God shapes us, we will be transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory. But we know that when Jesus comes, we will be like him - 1 John 3:2.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are our potter. We submit ourselves as clay to You to shape us and change us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
