Let us run with endurance the race
that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith
- Hebrews 12:1,2.
God has set a race before us for His
purpose. Each one of us has different paths and ways in life to run. Our steps in
life are ordered and established by God. The steps of a good man are ordered by
the Lord, And He delights in his way - Psalm 37:23. Leaving behind the past, let us run the race that
is set before us with patience and hope. We should also run the race in such a
way that we obtain the prize. Do you not know that those who run in a race all
run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it - 1
Corinthians 9:24.
While running the
race, we need to fix our eyes on Christ who is the author and finisher of
our faith regardless of what comes on our way. When our eyes are fixed on Christ, we will start to count the
earthly things as rubbish and our minds will be set on things above. Yet indeed
I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ
Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them
as rubbish, that I may gain Christ - Philippians 3:8. I press toward the goal
for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus - Philippians 3:14.
Let us not run the race in vain but finish the
race successfully that God has set before us. Holding fast the word of life, so
that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored
in vain - Philippians 2:16. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the
race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that
Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing - 2
Timothy 4:7.8.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to run the
race that is set before us with endurance by fixing our eyes only on You. In Jesus
name we pray. Amen.
