But the water that I shall give him
will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life -
John 4: 14.
A Samaritan woman came to draw water and
Jesus asked her water to drink. She asked Jesus how He could ask water from her
as He was a Jew. Jesus answered and said to
her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a
drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water” -
John 4:10. Living water is the gift of God.
Jesus revealed to the Samaritan woman who
He is and offered the living water to her. Jeremiah calls God as the fountain
of living water - Jeremiah 2:13. When we thirst and hunger for God, He offers
us the living water and refreshes our soul. As the deer pants for the water
brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God – Psalm 42:1. For I will pour water on
him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your
descendants, And My blessing on your offspring - Isaiah 44:3.
Jesus refers the Holy spirit as the living
water. He blesses all who believe Him with the rivers of living water of His
spirit. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will
flow rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom
those believing in Him would receive - John 7:38, 39. Let the rivers of living
water flow through us as a source of blessing to others.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let Your living
water flow over our soul. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
