Abraham's Intercession For Sodom And Gomorroh

                                               Pray continually - 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

Abraham interceded for Sodom and Gomorrah when God revealed His plan of destroying it. And the Lord said, “Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave, I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know” - Genesis 18:20,21. He begin asking God if the City would be spared if there are 50 righteous people. Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer - Romans 12:12.

Abraham kept praying unless Lot was spared from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? - Genesis 18:25. And He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.”  So the Lord went His way as soon as He had finished speaking with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place - Genesis 18:32,33.

God remembered Abraham and protected Lot from destruction. And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the cities in which Lot had dwelt - Genesis 19:29. Turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked - 2 Peter 2:6,7.

Let us also intercede in prayer for all people and keep praying like Abraham until our prayer is answered. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints - Ephesians 6:18. Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened - Matthew 7:7,8.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Give us a burden in our heart like Abraham to intercede for people’s salvation. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
