If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them - Psalm 62:10.
God wants us not to set our
heart on riches as it increases. For where your treasure is, there your heart
will be also - Matthew 16:21. The love of money is the root of all evil. For the love of money is the root of all evil - 1 Timothy 6:9. Our God is the source of all blessings and He
gives us the ability to produce wealth. But remember the LORD your God, for it
is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his
covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today - Deuteronomy 8:18.
Everything that exists in this world are temporary. We will fall when we trust our
riches. He who trusts in his riches will fall - Proverbs 11:28. Instead of
trusting our riches, may we put our hope in God who richly provides us with
everything for our enjoyment. Command those who are rich in this present world
not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but
to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our
enjoyment - 1 Timothy 6:17.
Let us examine ourselves where our heart is. Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” - Hebrews 13:5. As we seek the kingdom of God first, all things will be added to us. And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you - Luke 12:29-31.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us not to set
our heart on riches as it increases. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
