Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived - Genesis 25:21.
Isaac’s persistent prayer
Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife to have a child. Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his wife, because she was barren - Genesis 25:21. He waited for twenty years and prayed persistently with faith as God had already promised Abraham that He will multiply his descendants as stars and sand. Blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore - Genesis 22:17. Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife - Genesis 25:20. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them - Genesis 25:26.
God answered Isaac’s prayer
The Lord answered the prayer of Isaac and Rebekah conceived. The Lord granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived - Genesis 25:21. I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry - Psalm 40:1. So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you - Luke 11:9. Pray without ceasing - 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
More than what Isaac asked
Isaac prayed for a child but God blessed him exceedingly and abundantly more than what he asked with twins, Esau and Jacob. So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb - Genesis 25:24. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we think or ask Him in prayer. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us - Ephesians 3:20.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us pray persistently for everything without ceasing. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
