Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, “Sit here while I pray” - Mark 14:32.
Submission to the will of Father
Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane and submitted to the will of Father before He was crucified. He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will” - Matthew 26:39. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me - John 6:38. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God - Psalm 143:10. I delight to do Your will, O my God - Psalm 40:8.
Prayed more earnestly
Jesus prayed more earnestly in the garden of gethsemane in agony. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground - Luke 22:44. He prays to be glorified. After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you -John 17:1. During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission - Hebrews 5:7.
Peace & Strength
After prayer in Gethsemane, Jesus found peace and strength to do God’s will. Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him - Luke 22:43. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus - Philippians 4:6,7. Let us submit all our prayers and petitions to God according to His will and find peace and strength.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us bring all our petitions to You in prayer and submit to Your will. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
