It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man - Psalm 118:8.
Peter who said Jesus that he will not deny Him even if he had to die, denied Him three times. Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You” - Mathew 26:35. But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.” - Luke 22:57. But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end - Matthew 26:58.
Judas betrayed Jesus. Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Him to them - Mark 14:10. Jesus was despised, rejected and oppressed by everyone. He was despised and rejected by mankind - Isaiah 53:3. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth - Isaiah 53:7. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him - John 1:11. You will all fall away,” Jesus told them, “for it is written: “‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ - Mark 14:27-28.
Everyone around us will change during the time of distress except our Lord God and so let us trust only God. For I am the Lord, I do not change - Malachi 3:6. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever - Hebrews 13:8. Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save - Psalm 146:3. Stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what account is he? - Isaiah 2:22.
PRAYER: You are our all in all & unchanging God. Help us to trust only You at all times. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
