Overcome The Devil By The Word of God

          The word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one - 1 John 2:14(b). 

               Jesus overcame all the temptations of the devil by the Word of God. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’” - Mathew 4:4. Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God’ - Mathew 4:7. Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve’” - Mathew 4:10. 

To be able to stand against the schemes of the devil

             We need to to take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God to be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil - Ephesians 6:11. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God - Ephesians 6:17. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart - Hebrews 4:12. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour - 2 Peter 5:1.   

Devil will flee

              Like how the devil left Jesus, the devil will flee from us as we take the Word of God. Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him - Mathew 4:11. Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you - James 4:7. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places - Ephesians 6:12. Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices - 2 Corinthians 2:11. 

   And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony - Revelation 12:11.  

                                                                

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us overcome the devil by Your living and powerful Word that is sharper than any two- edged sword. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
