For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows - 1 Timothy 6:10.
The love of money is the root of all kinds of
evil. Judas, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus had the love for money. But
one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said,
“Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the
poor?” This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a
thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it - John 12:4-6.
Judas' greed for money had given
the devil an opportunity to enter into him. And supper being ended, the devil
having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray
Him - John 13:2. Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to
the chief priests and said, 'What will you give me if I betray him to you?'
They paid him thirty pieces of silver. And from that moment he began to look
for an opportunity to betray him - Matthew 26: 14-16.
Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of
silver. The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to
that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that
man if he had not been born - Matthew 26:24. Let us not have the love for money and give the devil a foothold in our life as it is the root
of all kinds of all evil. Do not give the devil a foothold - Ephesians 4:27. For
where your treasure is, there your heart will be also - Matthew 7:21.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us not love
money as it is the root of all kinds of evil. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
