And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross - Philippians 2:8.
Jesus
laid aside His glory as God and came to the world in the appearance of man. God
calls us to have the same attitude as Christ. Let this mind be in you which was
also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it
robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the
form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men - Philippians 2:5-7.
Jesus
obeyed the plan of the Father about Him being sent to the world as Savior. We
have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the
world - 1 John 4:14. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the
world, but to save the world through Him - John 3:17. Jesus also humbled
himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross. Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience
by the things which He suffered - Hebrews 5:8.
God exalted Jesus to the highest place and gave Him the name above every name as the result of His obedience. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father - Philippians 2:9-11. For you, O LORD, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods - Psalm 97:9.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You are the most High
God. Let us have Your mind of obedience. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
