Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it - Hebrews 13:2.
Rebekah showed
hospitality to Abraham’s servant who is a stranger for her. And when she had
finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will draw water for your camels also,
until they have finished drinking” - Genesis 24:19. Dorcas helped poor people
and cared for widows by making dresses for them. In Joppa there was a disciple
named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and
helping the poor - Acts 9:36.
The widow of Zarephath fed Elijah even
though her family was starving. And
Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a
small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for
yourself and your son”. So, she went away and did according to the word of
Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days - 1 Kings 17:13,15.
The Shunammite woman arranged a room in her home for the prophet Elisha. And she said to her husband, “Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there” - 2 Kings 4:9,10. Let us serve God by showing hospitality to strangers and doing good. Let's not get tired of doing what is good, for at the right time we will reap a harvest-if we do not give up - Galatians 6:9.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to show
hospitality to strangers. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
