Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths - Proverbs 3:5,6.
Abraham
told his chief servant Eliezer to find a bride for his son Isaac as he became old.
Eliezer prayed for God to give him success in finding the bride for Isaac. Then
he said, “O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and
show kindness to my master Abraham. Behold, here I stand by the well of water,
and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. Now let it be that the young woman to whom I
say, ‘Please let down your pitcher that I may drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and
I will also give your camels a drink’- let her be the one You have appointed
for Your servant Isaac. And by this I will know that You have shown kindness to
my master - Genesis 24:12-14.
Even before Eliezer had finished his prayer, Rebekah
came out with her jar on her shoulder. But before I had finished speaking in my
heart, there was Rebekah, coming out with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she
went down to the well and drew water. And I said to her, ‘Please let me drink.’
And she made haste and let her pitcher down from her shoulder, and said,
‘Drink, and I will give your camels a drink also. So I drank, and she gave the
camels a drink also - Genesis 24:45,46. Eliezer wondered as it happened like
how he prayed.
God answered the prayer of Eliezer and made his journey prosperous. Eliezer prayed and trusted God instead of him while seeking the bride for Isaac. Like Eliezer, let us also pray and seek the guidance of God in all we do. The Lord is near to all who call Him in truth. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye - Psalm 32:8. Let us submit all our ways to God and trust Him so that He will direct our paths. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need - Hebrews 4:16.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to trust You and seek Your guidance in all we do. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
