By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days - Hebrews 11:30.
God’s Instructions
God gave instructions to Joshua on
what to do for the walls of Jericho to fell down. March around the city once
with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets
of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city
seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a
long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the
wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in -
Joshua 6:3-5. Joshua led the Israelites to do what God had instructed.
The Israelites obeyed God
and followed the instructions
For the first six days, they
marched around the city once for six days while the trumpets kept sounding. The
seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward, marching before the ark
of the Lord and blowing the trumpets. The armed men went ahead of them and the
rear guard followed the ark of the Lord, while the trumpets kept sounding. So
on the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp.
They did this for six days - Joshua 6:13,14. Blessed rather are those who hear
the word of God and obey it - Luke 11:28.
By obedience and faith, the walls of
Jericho fell down on the seventh day
The Israelites obeyed God by faith
and on the seventh day, the Jericho fell down. On the seventh day when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army to shout with praise and the wall collapsed. When
the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when
the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in,
and they took the city - Joshua 6:20.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help
us to obey Your Word and walk in faith. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
