Abraham & Sarah's Hospitality

Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it - Hebrews 13:2.

Three visitors

Abraham washed the feet of three visitors and prepared a place for them to take rest and welcomed them without knowing that they were God and two angels. So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground, and said, “My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant. Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree” - Genesis 18:2-4.

Abraham & Sarah prepared meal for them

Abraham and Sarah quickly prepared meal for them and fed them. So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah and said, “Quickly, make ready three measures of fine meal; knead it and make cakes. And Abraham ran to the herd, took a tender and good calf, gave it to a young man, and he hastened to prepare it. So he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree as they ate - Genesis 18:6-8.

Abraham & Sarah blessed with Isaac

God blessed Abraham and Sarah with Isaac exactly one year after the visit of the three men. “Where is your wife Sarah?” they asked him. “There, in the tent,” he said. Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son” - Genesis 18:9,10. And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him - whom Sarah bore to him - Isaac - Genesis 21:1-3.

Practice hospitality - Romans 12:13.

Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling - 1 Peter 4:9.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up - Galatians 6:9.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Help us to show hospitality and do good to others. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
