Feed My Sheep

Jesus said, "Feed my sheep” - John 21:17.

Jesus asked Simon whether he loves Him and told him three times, “feed My lambs, tend My sheep, feed My sheep”. When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my lambs." Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep." The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep” - John 21:15-17.

Jesus told Simon to follow Him and restored Him back to feed His sheep. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.” - John 21:19. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it - Matthew 16:18. Peter is the author of the books 1 Peter and 11 Peter in the Bible. He wrote about being a shepherd of the flock in 1 Peter 5. Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock - 1 Peter 5:2,3.

Peter preached in churches and he was mightily used by God. When he preached, about three thousand people were baptized and added to the church - Acts 2:41. He healed a lame man and preached boldly. They brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them - Acts 5:14. May we also feed the sheep of God and be faithful to proclaim His name as Peter did.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, Let us feed Your sheep and do great things for You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
